Air Conditioning Installation Bridgeman Downs
Big homes on big blocks need a cooling plan, not just another wall unit. We help Bridgeman Downs families choose between zoned ducted, multi-head and individual splits, then install it properly.

Whole-home cooling for larger Bridgeman Downs houses
When a house has five or more rooms worth cooling, the choice of system matters more than the brand of unit.
Bridgeman Downs takes its name from Henry St John Bridgeman, who bought land here in 1860 bounded by what are now Albany Creek, Bridgeman and Beams Roads. For a long time it was known for large acreage properties, and residential subdivision came mainly in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The population has grown quickly since, from about 7,400 in 2011 to nearly 11,000 in 2021.
That history gives the suburb a distinctive housing stock: generous homes on bigger blocks than most of the northside, many now 30 or more years old. Lots of them were built with no air con at all, or with a single unit in the living room that has since been joined by a patchwork of bedroom splits. If that sounds like your place, it is worth stepping back and looking at the whole house before adding another unit.
Bridgeman Downs sits on the City of Brisbane side of the boundary with the City of Moreton Bay, with Chermside Hills Reserve and Pat Rafter Park among its 25 parks and reserves. Leafy blocks are lovely to live on, but trees overhanging a condenser drop leaves into the coil, so we factor that into where outdoor units go.
Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill, a short drive south to Bridgeman Downs via Gympie Road or Albany Creek Road. Also see EV charger installation in Bridgeman Downs and Electrician Bridgeman Downs.
Ducted, multi-head or separate splits?
Zoned ducted suits large single-level and two-storey homes with good roof space, because one system can cool living areas by day and bedrooms by night. Separate splits suit homes where only a few rooms are used heavily, and they keep running costs low because you only cool what you use.
Multi-head sits in between: one outdoor unit feeding several indoor heads. All three are quoted after a free assessment.
Roof space and ducting in 1980s and 1990s homes
Ducted systems need room in the ceiling for the indoor unit and ductwork. Many homes from this era have workable roof space, but low pitches, existing insulation and access points all need checking.
We inspect the ceiling before quoting, so there are no surprises on install day.
Will your switchboard carry a bigger system?
A large ducted system draws far more than a single split. If your board is the original from the late 1980s, we check capacity and protection first. A switchboard upgrade is $1,320 to $3,850 incl. GST where one is needed.

Bridgeman Downs air con FAQs
Is ducted air con worth it for a large Bridgeman Downs home?
It often is when you want to cool most of the house and have suitable roof space. Zoning lets you cool only the areas in use, which keeps running costs in check. If you mostly use two or three rooms, splits can be the better value.
How much does ducted air conditioning cost?
It depends on the size of the house, the number of zones and the roof space, so we quote after a free assessment rather than guessing. The quote is in writing and includes GST.
Can I replace several old splits with one system?
Yes. Many homes here have collected splits over the years. We can recover the old refrigerant, remove the units and replace them with ducted or multi-head, then patch the old wall penetrations.
Where should the condenser go on a treed block?
Somewhere with clear airflow, away from heavy leaf drop and not right beside a bedroom window. On larger blocks there is usually plenty of choice, and we pick a spot that also keeps the pipe run sensible.
Can you cool a granny flat or detached studio?
Yes. A single split usually does the job well, and we check the power supply to the building first. A new circuit with an RCBO is $180 to $400 incl. GST.
Do I need a new switchboard for ducted air con?
Not always, but larger systems need spare capacity and modern protection. We check on our visit and include any upgrade in your quote. Read choosing the best air conditioner for Queensland for more.
Do you service McDowall, Carseldine and Albany Creek too?
Yes, we work right across the northside and Moreton Bay from our Mango Hill base.
