EV Charger Installation Bridgeman Downs
Big homes on big blocks often mean big electrical loads. We install EV chargers in Bridgeman Downs that share the supply sensibly with your pool, ducted air and second car.

Large homes, heavy loads and two-car households
In Bridgeman Downs the question is less about whether a charger fits and more about how it shares the power with everything else the house runs.
Henry St John Bridgeman bought land here in 1860, and for a long time the area was known for acreage. Residential subdivision came in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and the population has kept climbing, from about 7,400 in 2011 to nearly 11,000 in 2021. Many homes from that period are generous, with double or triple garages, long driveways and pools.
That size brings its own electrical picture. A house running a pool pump, ducted air conditioning and an induction cooktop can already be near the limit of a single-phase supply on a hot evening. Add a 7 kW charger, or two, and the main switch can be working hard. We look at your actual demand rather than guessing, and where it is tight we suggest a charger with load management that backs off automatically when the house needs the power.
With Beckett Road, Albany Creek Road and Bridgeman Road as the main routes and no rail in the suburb, most households here drive everywhere. That makes Bridgeman Downs a common place for a family to own two electric cars, which is a different design problem to a single charger.
Bridgeman Downs sits about 15 km north of the CBD on the Moreton Bay border, an easy run down from our Mango Hill base. Also see Air conditioning installation in Bridgeman Downs and Electrician Bridgeman Downs.
Charging two EVs from one house
You can fit two chargers on separate circuits, or one charger that both cars take turns on. Two chargers are more convenient, but they need a supply that can handle both drawing at once, or chargers that share the load between them.
We work out which suits your supply and your driving, then price both options so you can compare.
Is three-phase worth it here?
Some larger Bridgeman Downs homes already have three-phase power for pools, ducted systems or workshops. If yours does, a 22 kW charger is possible at $1,500 to $2,200 incl. GST, but only some cars can actually charge that fast at home.
Even on three-phase, many owners pick a 7 kW or 11 kW unit and spread the load. See our 7 kW vs 22 kW explainer.
Garages at the far end of the house
On large single-level homes the board is often at one end and the garage at the other. Extra cable beyond the standard run is $25 per metre, measured on site and written into your quote.

Bridgeman Downs EV charger pricing
A single 7 kW charger close to the board is $990 incl. GST. Larger homes may add cable length, extra protection or a second circuit, and every item is shown before you agree.
For two-car households, the cost depends on whether you need two full circuits or one charger with load sharing. We give you both prices so the choice is yours.
We do not factor rebates into quotes. If you want to compare running costs against petrol, our charging cost guide has worked examples.

How we plan a larger install

One car or two, single or three-phase, with or without load management. You get options in writing.
Install the circuits
Cable, protection and charger fitted, with the Energex EWR lodged where your supply requires it.

Bridgeman Downs EV charger questions
Can my Bridgeman Downs house charge two electric cars at once?
Usually yes, but it depends on your supply and what else the house runs. Two chargers with load sharing is the common answer on single-phase homes. We check your demand and recommend the setup that will not trip the main switch.
Will running a charger with the pool pump and ducted air cause problems?
It can on a tight single-phase supply. A load-managed charger slows itself down when the house needs more power, then speeds up again. We confirm this during the inspection.
Should I get three-phase power connected for a 22 kW charger?
Only if your car can use it and your driving really needs it. Most cars charge at 7 kW or 11 kW at home regardless. Adding three-phase supply is a bigger project, so talk to us before committing.
My garage is at the opposite end of the house. What does that cost?
The standard $990 price covers a standard run, and extra cable is $25 per metre. On long runs we may suggest a small sub-board in the garage instead. Either way you see the full figure before work begins.
Can the charger go beside the driveway rather than in the garage?
Yes. A pedestal mount near the driveway works well when cars are parked outside. We route the cable underground in conduit and quote the trench and cable length.
Does adding a charger need Energex approval?
Some installs need an electrical work request lodged with Energex, especially larger or three-phase chargers. We handle that for you. More detail is in our Energex rules guide.
Which charger brand should I buy?
Choose one with load management if you have a big house or two cars. Our home EV charger guide covers the main options, and we are happy to check a model before you buy.
