Cooling a Caboolture home through an inland summer

Inland heat, a mix of housing ages and long days at home mean the right unit matters more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Caboolture is one of the oldest towns in the region. The name comes from the Yugarabul word Kabultur, meaning place of the carpet snake, and the settlement grew from the 1860s as a supply stop where Cobb & Co coaches pulled in on the way to the Gympie goldfields. The railway from Brisbane arrived in 1888. That long history means homes here range from older timber houses through to much newer builds, and each one cools differently.

Because the town sits on the northern side of the Caboolture River, away from the sea breeze that bayside suburbs enjoy, west-facing living rooms and bedrooms can hold heat well into the evening. That pushes us towards inverter split systems sized to the real heat load of the room, not just its floor area. An undersized unit runs flat out all afternoon, uses more power and still leaves the room warm. Our guide on what size split system you need explains the maths.

Older homes in Caboolture also get an electrical check before we add a new circuit. Ceramic fuses, a full switchboard or no spare space for a safety switch are common, and we would rather tell you upfront than find out halfway through the job.

Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill and we come up the Bruce Highway to Caboolture, Morayfield, Bellmere and Upper Caboolture every week. Also see EV charger installation in Caboolture and Electrician Caboolture.

Sizing for west-facing rooms and hot afternoons

We look at window size, which way the room faces, ceiling insulation and how many people use the space. A 2.5 kW unit suits a small bedroom, but an open-plan living area facing west often needs 7 kW or more.

We will also tell you when a smaller unit is enough. Oversizing wastes money upfront and can leave the room cold and clammy.

Older Caboolture homes and wiring

Every split system over a small size needs its own dedicated circuit protected by an RCBO. If your board is full or still running rewireable fuses, a switchboard upgrade may be the safer first step.

We quote both items separately so you can see exactly what the air con costs and what the electrical work costs.

Air conditioning services for Caboolture

One licensed team handles the refrigeration and the electrical side, so you are not coordinating two trades.

Supply and install

We supply a TCL 2.5 kW split and install it on a standard back-to-back setup from $1,650 incl. GST. Larger sizes quoted on request.

Install your own unit

Bought a unit already? We install customer-supplied split systems from $1,120 incl. GST for a standard back-to-back install.

Dedicated circuits and safety switches

A new RCBO protected circuit for your air con runs $180 to $400 incl. GST, depending on the board and cable run.

Servicing and cleaning

Dust and pollen build up fast in a hard-working unit. A regular clean keeps airflow up and running costs down.

What air con installation costs in Caboolture

Fixed starting prices for standard work, and a free assessment for anything outside that.

A standard back-to-back install means the indoor and outdoor units sit on opposite sides of the same wall with a short pipe run. Plenty of Caboolture homes suit that, but longer runs, two-storey homes and roof-space routes are quoted after we have seen the site, and additional costs may apply for non-standard installs.

There is no callout fee on booked work and every quote is confirmed in writing. For a deeper breakdown, see our article on air conditioning installation cost in Brisbane.

Caboolture air conditioning FAQs

What size split system do I need for a Caboolture living room?

Most open-plan living areas here need between 5 kW and 8 kW, depending on size, insulation and how much afternoon sun hits the windows. A west-facing room with large glass often needs the upper end. We confirm the size on site before you buy anything.

Will a new air conditioner be expensive to run in summer?

A correctly sized inverter split is one of the cheapest ways to cool a room. Running costs climb when a unit is too small and works flat out all afternoon.

My Caboolture house is older. Can it handle air conditioning?

Usually yes, but we check first. Older boards may lack space for a new circuit or still use rewireable fuses, in which case a switchboard upgrade from $1,320 incl. GST may be needed. We price that separately so you can decide.

Can you install a unit I bought online?

Yes. Installation of a customer-supplied split system starts from $1,120 incl. GST for a standard back-to-back install.

How long does a split system install take?

A standard back-to-back install is usually finished in half a day. Up-and-over runs, multi-head systems or extra electrical work take longer, and we tell you the expected time when we quote.

Do you also cover Morayfield, Bellmere and Upper Caboolture?

Yes. We travel up from our Mango Hill base to Caboolture and its neighbouring suburbs regularly, and there is no callout fee on booked work.

How often should I service the unit in a hot inland area?

Clean the filters every few weeks during heavy use and book a professional service roughly once a year. Our article on how often to service your air conditioner covers the signs to watch for.
