Air conditioning for Narangba's larger homes and blocks
Narangba covers about 43 km2 with far fewer people per square kilometre than the estates to its east, and that space changes the kind of air con people ask us for.
Thirty years ago this was mostly rural land, part of a district once known as Stoney Creek. The population was under 1,000 in 1991 and passed 20,000 by 2021, as farmland turned into family housing and new schools opened in 1996, 2000 and 2005 to keep up. That growth produced a mix of homes: newer family builds on generous lots, and semi-rural properties on the edges with sheds, studios and detached garages.
Larger floor plans are where ducted air conditioning comes into its own. One outdoor unit, zones for living and sleeping areas, and a single controller can be simpler to live with than five or six separate splits. That said, ducted is not always the answer, and for a family that mainly uses two or three rooms, splits often make more financial sense.
Outbuildings are the other big Narangba job. A home office in the shed or a granny flat for the in-laws needs its own cooling, and that usually means a longer cable run from the main switchboard, or a sub-board in the outbuilding. We plan the electrical side and the air con together so it is done once and done properly.
Narangba borders North Lakes, so it is a short run up from our Mango Hill base. Also see EV charger installation in Narangba and Electrician Narangba.
Ducted or splits for a large Narangba home?
Ducted suits homes where most rooms are used most of the day, and where the roof space has room for ductwork. Zoning means you only cool the areas you need.
Splits suit families who use a few rooms heavily. They cost less upfront and each one can be replaced independently. We will price both so you can compare honestly.
Cooling a shed, studio or granny flat
If the outbuilding already has power, we check whether its supply can carry a split system. If not, we can run a new circuit or install a sub-board. Longer cable runs and sub-boards are quoted after a free assessment.
Insulation makes a big difference in a metal shed. We will tell you if insulating the roof first would let you use a much smaller unit.
Homes on the semi-rural edge
Narangba sits within the Burpengary Creek catchment, and some properties are spread out with long distances between the house and the switchboard. We map the run before quoting so there are no surprises.

Narangba air conditioning FAQs
How much does ducted air conditioning cost in Narangba?
Ducted is quoted after a free assessment, because the price depends on the home's size, number of zones and roof space access. We price it alongside a split system option so you can compare total cost. Every figure includes GST.
Can you put a split system in my shed?
Yes. We check whether the existing supply to the shed can carry the load, and if not we run a new circuit or fit a sub-board. Outbuilding installs are quoted after an assessment because cable distance varies a lot between properties.
What does a long cable run add to the cost?
It depends on the distance, how the cable is installed (in conduit, underground or overhead) and whether a sub-board is needed. We measure it on site and include it in a fixed written quote; our cost guide explains the other factors. Additional costs may apply for non-standard installs, and we explain them upfront.
Should I insulate my shed before adding air con?
In most cases, yes. An uninsulated metal shed gains heat quickly, so it needs a much bigger unit to stay cool. Insulating first often means a smaller, cheaper split and lower running costs.
Will a ducted system need a switchboard upgrade?
Sometimes. Ducted units draw more power than a single split, and older or full boards may not have the capacity. A switchboard upgrade costs $1,320 to $3,850 incl. GST if needed.
How long does a split system install take in Narangba?
A standard back-to-back split is usually finished in a single visit. Long cable runs, outbuildings and ducted systems take longer, and we give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.
Can I run my air con from solar?
Inverter air conditioners pair well with rooftop solar, especially for daytime cooling. We can position the controller and set schedules so the unit does most of its work while the panels are producing.
