EV Charger Installation Caboolture
Caboolture sits at the far end of the Caboolture line, so plenty of locals clock long drives every week. A wall charger at home means you leave each morning with a full battery, installed from $990 incl. GST.

Home charging built for Caboolture commutes
When your weekly driving runs down the Bruce Highway or out along the D'Aguilar Highway, overnight charging at home is the simplest way to keep an EV ready.
Caboolture has been a stopping point for travellers since Cobb & Co coaches pulled in on the way to the Gympie goldfields in the 1860s, and the railway from Brisbane followed in 1888. It is still a town people drive out of: the CBD is about 44 km south, and the Bruce Highway, D'Aguilar Highway and Caboolture-Bribie Island Road all start their runs nearby. For an EV owner that means bigger daily kilometres than an inner-city driver, which is exactly where a dedicated 7 kW charger earns its keep.
The other thing we plan around in Caboolture is housing age. As a long-established town and the old administrative hub of the former Caboolture Shire, the suburb has homes built across many decades. A newer house usually takes a charger with no fuss. An older one may still have a switchboard that was never designed for a 32 amp load running for hours each night, so we check it properly before we quote rather than discovering it on install day.
Inland heat matters too. Summers here run hot, and a charger mounted on a west-facing wall in full afternoon sun will throttle back to protect itself. We will suggest a shaded spot in the garage or carport where possible, and keep the cable run sensible so you are not paying for extra metres you do not need.
Our team travels up from our Mango Hill base to Caboolture for booked installs, and every job is completed by a licensed Connex electrician. Also see Air conditioning installation in Caboolture and Electrician Caboolture.
Older Caboolture homes: what we check first
We look at the main switch rating, the incoming supply, spare space on the board and whether existing circuits already have RCD protection. An EV charger needs its own dedicated circuit and its own RCBO.
If the board is full or has old rewireable fuses, a switchboard upgrade ($1,320 to $3,850 incl. GST) may be needed first. We will tell you plainly whether it is required or just recommended.
Single-phase or three-phase in Caboolture?
Most Caboolture houses are single-phase, and a 7 kW charger adds roughly 40 to 50 km of range per hour, which covers a long commute overnight with room to spare.
If your property already has three-phase power, a 22 kW unit is an option ($1,500 to $2,200 incl. GST), but only if your car can actually accept that rate. Our 7 kW vs 22 kW guide explains the trade-off.
EV charging work we do in Caboolture
From a straightforward garage install to a full board upgrade, the work is scoped and priced before we start.
7 kW wall charger install
Standard single-phase install of the charger you supply, fixed at $990 incl. GST on a standard run. Extra cable is $25 per metre.
Switchboard checks and upgrades
Older Caboolture boards often need attention before a charger goes in. We assess, explain and quote the upgrade only if it is needed.
Three-phase 22 kW chargers
For properties with three-phase supply and a car that can use it. Installed for $1,500 to $2,200 incl. GST depending on the run.
Solar-aware charging
Chargers that soak up your daytime solar surplus. We quote these after looking at your inverter and existing system.

What an EV charger costs in Caboolture
Our standard install is a fixed $990 incl. GST, and anything beyond that is priced line by line before we start.
A standard run covers a charger mounted close to your switchboard, which suits most attached garages. Where the charger needs to reach a detached carport or the far side of a block, extra cable is charged at $25 per metre so you can see exactly where the money goes.
If your board needs work, we price that separately and explain why. Our running cost comparison is worth a read if you are weighing up the payback on a long Caboolture commute.

Caboolture EV charger questions
How much does it cost to install an EV charger in Caboolture?
A standard single-phase 7 kW install is a fixed $990 incl. GST when you supply the charger. Extra cable beyond the standard run is $25 per metre, and an RCBO or switchboard upgrade is priced separately only if your home needs it.
My Caboolture house is older. Will I need a switchboard upgrade?
Not always, but older boards are the most common reason an install needs extra work. If the board has old fuses, no room for a new RCBO or a low main switch rating, an upgrade may be required. We confirm this during the check and explain it before quoting.
Is a 7 kW charger enough for a long commute from Caboolture?
For most drivers, yes. A 7 kW charger adds roughly 40 to 50 km of range per hour, so a typical overnight session replaces far more than a round trip to Brisbane. It is the most practical choice for single-phase homes.
Can the charger go in a detached carport or shed?
Yes. We run a dedicated circuit out to it, and cable beyond the standard run is $25 per metre. We plan the shortest safe route so you are not paying for unnecessary length.
Do I need Energex approval for an EV charger?
Some installs require an electrical work request to Energex, depending on the charger size and your supply. We lodge it for you where it applies. Our Energex rules guide covers the details.
How long does the install take?
A standard install usually takes a few hours on the day. Jobs involving a switchboard upgrade or long cable runs take longer, and we will tell you the expected time when we quote.
