EV Charger Installation Mango Hill
Mango Hill is where our team is based, so we install more home chargers here than almost anywhere. Standard 7 kW installs from $990 incl. GST, fixed price.

Your local EV charger installer, based right here
Connex Electrical works out of Mango Hill, so when you book a charger install you are booking neighbours, not a crew driving in from across Brisbane.
Few suburbs have changed as fast. Mango Hill had 4,340 residents in 2011 and 14,921 by 2021, and new schools kept opening through 2012, 2013 and 2020 to keep up. That means a large share of homes here are recent builds, typically with a modern switchboard in the garage and room on the wall for a charger, and some already have solar. If your builder handed over the keys in the last few years, there is a good chance your install is a standard one.
The suburb's name comes from the mango trees planted along a stretch of Anzac Avenue, the heritage-listed WWI memorial road that still runs through it. Today Anzac Avenue and the nearby Bruce Highway carry most of the daily traffic, and that is where an EV earns its keep. Charge at home overnight or from your solar on the weekend, and the commute costs a fraction of a tank of fuel.
Since October 2016 the suburb has had two stations on the Redcliffe Peninsula line, Mango Hill and Mango Hill East. Plenty of households run one car to the station and another further afield, and a single home charger can keep both topped up if you plan the circuit and charger settings with that in mind.
Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill, established in 2014 and led by owner Darren Standring, a qualified electrician since 1997. Also see Air conditioning installation in Mango Hill and Electrician Mango Hill.
Just built in Mango Hill? Check these three things first
First, the space on your switchboard: most new boards have room for one more circuit, but some builders fill every slot. Second, the distance from the board to where you will park. Third, whether solar was installed and which inverter you have.
Snap a photo of each and send them through. We can usually confirm a fixed price from the photos alone. Our article on how long an EV charger installation takes explains what to expect on the day.
Two cars, one charger: planning for a busy household
A 7 kW charger adds roughly 40 to 50 km of range per hour, so one charger can refill two cars overnight if they take turns. Scheduled charging in the charger app makes this easy, and it lets you favour off-peak or solar hours.
If both cars need charging at once, a second charger with load management is an option. We size the circuits so the two chargers share the available supply rather than tripping the main switch.
Off-peak and solar: picking when your car charges
Charging overnight on an off-peak tariff suits commuters who are out all day. Charging from solar suits people who work from home or have the car parked in the garage over the weekend.
Many chargers can do both. We set the schedule and solar settings during handover. See EV charging from solar for the pros and cons.

If your board is full or out of date, a switchboard upgrade runs from $1,320 to $3,850 incl. GST. In newer Mango Hill homes we rarely need one. Our article do I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger explains how we decide.

Questions Mango Hill residents ask about EV chargers
Is an EV charger install in a new Mango Hill home usually straightforward?
Usually, yes. Most recently built homes have a modern switchboard and a garage close to it, which fits our standard fixed price from $990 incl. GST. We confirm from photos of your board and parking spot.
Can one charger handle two electric cars?
Yes, if they take turns. A 7 kW charger can refill a typical daily commute in a few hours, so scheduling one car early in the night and the other later works well. A second charger with load management is an option if both need charging at once.
Should I install a charger before or after my new home is finished?
After handover is simplest, because the builder's electrical work is complete and certified. If you are still building, ask your builder to leave a spare slot on the switchboard, which can make the later install cheaper.
Is it cheaper to charge from solar or overnight off-peak?
Charging from your own surplus solar is usually the cheapest, because that power would otherwise be exported for a low feed-in rate. Off-peak suits cars that are away during the day. Many chargers can be set to do both.
Do I need a 22 kW charger for Bruce Highway commuting?
Most people do not. A 7 kW charger replaces a long daily round trip overnight, and 22 kW only helps if you have a three-phase supply and a car that accepts it. Three-phase installs are $1,500 to $2,200 incl. GST.
How long does the install take?
A standard garage install generally takes a few hours. Jobs involving longer cable runs, solar setup or switchboard work take longer, and we tell you what to expect when we quote.
Do you charge a callout fee in Mango Hill?
No. There is no callout fee on booked work, and because we are based in Mango Hill, your job is right on our doorstep.
