EV Charger Installation Aspley
Aspley is a settled northside suburb where many homes have stood since the 1960s. We fit EV chargers into those carports and single garages neatly, and check the old wiring properly first.

EV charging for established Aspley homes
Aspley's population has barely shifted in a decade, which tells you most homes here are long-held family houses rather than new builds.
Settlement goes back to the 1860s, when the area was known as Soldiers Flat and later Little Cabbage Tree Creek. It took the name Aspley in 1897 from a local orangery and vineyard, joined Greater Brisbane in 1925 and was even called North Chermside until the mid-1970s. The wave of new schools that opened in 1963 hints at when much of the housing went up, and the median age of 40 reflects people who have stayed put.
For an EV charger, that history shows up in three practical ways. The switchboard may be original or partly updated, so we check its capacity and protection before anything else (our switchboard guide explains why). The parking is often a carport or a single garage, sometimes set apart from the house, which affects the cable run. And there may already be rooftop solar, which opens up the option of daytime charging.
The ground itself is mostly flat south of Cabbage Tree Creek, with hills to the east and south. On sloping blocks we plan cable routes so they are protected and tidy rather than running across driveways or garden beds.
We come down to Aspley, about 13 km north of the CBD, from our Mango Hill base, and every charger is installed by a licensed Connex electrician. Also see Air conditioning installation in Aspley and Electrician Aspley.
Carport versus garage: what changes
In an attached garage near the board, most jobs fit our standard $990 incl. GST install. A freestanding carport often needs a longer run, and cable beyond the standard length is $25 per metre.
For carports we choose a charger location that is sheltered from driving rain and direct afternoon sun, and we use outdoor-rated fittings throughout.
Original and partly updated switchboards
Many established homes have had a board partly modernised over the years, with some circuits protected and others not. Adding an EV circuit is a good moment to fix that properly.
If a full replacement is needed, a switchboard upgrade is $1,320 to $3,850 incl. GST. Often an extra RCBO ($180 to $400 incl. GST) is all that is required.

What Aspley EV charger installs cost
Fixed $990 incl. GST for a standard install, with extras priced only where your home needs them.
The two items most likely to change an Aspley quote are a carport sitting away from the house, and a switchboard that has not been fully updated. We measure and inspect first, and give you the full figure in writing before work starts.
There is no callout fee on booked work, and you will not see a price increase on the day unless you ask us to add something. For the bigger picture, see our North Brisbane EV charger page or the EV vs petrol running cost guide.

Aspley EV charger FAQs
Can an EV charger be installed in an open carport?
Yes. We use outdoor-rated chargers and fittings and choose a mounting spot sheltered from the worst of the weather. If the carport is away from the house, extra cable is $25 per metre.
My house has had some electrical updates over the years. Is that enough?
It depends on what was updated. Some boards only have partial RCD protection or limited spare space. We check during the inspection and often only an extra RCBO is needed rather than a full upgrade.
I already have solar panels. Can my car charge from them?
Yes, with a solar-aware charger that adjusts its output to match your surplus. It works best if the car is home during the day. We quote these after checking your inverter and system size.
Will an EV charger trip my power?
Not if it is installed on a correctly rated dedicated circuit and your main supply has capacity. Nuisance tripping is usually a sign of an undersized circuit or an overloaded board, which is exactly what our pre-install check looks for.
Which charger suits an Aspley home?
Most homes here are single-phase, so a 7 kW wall charger is the usual choice. Our home EV charger guide compares popular models.
Is there a callout fee?
No. There is no callout fee on booked work, and the price is confirmed in writing before we start.
