Homes and businesses in Caloundra West
Caloundra West is not one type of place, and our installs here are just as varied.
Caloundra West was named and given its boundaries in 1988. Its name is drawn from the Kabi word Cullowundoor, combining the words for the beech tree and place. It sits directly west of the Caloundra CBD, and the layout is unusual: houses and an industrial estate in the north, more residential streets in the west, Caloundra Airport in the middle and undeveloped marshland in the south.
That mix gives us two kinds of customer. Families in established estates such as Bellvista want quiet, efficient bedroom and living-room splits. Businesses in the industrial estate and around the airport need air con for offices, lunchrooms and server cupboards that can run long hours. We handle both, and we quote them differently.
Being only a few kilometres from the coast also matters. Salty air can corrode condenser coils and fixings over time, so we recommend units with protective coil coatings and use stainless or galvanised brackets and fasteners. A regular wash-down and service helps the system last.
Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill and travels up to the Sunshine Coast to service Caloundra West. We do not have a local office there, so booking ahead helps us plan your visit. Also see EV charger installation in Caloundra West and Electrician Caloundra West.
Coastal protection for condensers
Ask about units with anti-corrosion coil treatment. They cost a little more but are better suited to coastal air.
We use corrosion-resistant fixings and position condensers away from direct exposure where we can.
Air con for small commercial spaces
Offices, showrooms and workshop lunchrooms in the industrial estate often need larger splits or several units. These are quoted after a free assessment.
If the building's switchboard needs additional circuits, we handle that as part of the same job.

Caloundra West aircon FAQs
Do I need a coastal-rated air conditioner in Caloundra West?
It is a good idea. Salt in the air can corrode condenser coils and fittings, and units with protective coil coatings tend to last longer near the coast. We can recommend suitable models.
Can you install air con in my business in the industrial estate?
Yes. We install splits and multi-head systems in offices, showrooms and workshop lunchrooms. Commercial work is quoted after a free assessment so we can check the space and the switchboard.
Are you a local Caloundra business?
No. We are based in Mango Hill and travel up to service Caloundra West and the nearby Aura community. Booking ahead lets us group jobs and plan your visit.
How do I look after an air conditioner near the coast?
Hose the outdoor coil gently every few months to remove salt, keep the filters clean and book a professional service about once a year. Our servicing guide explains more.
My old condenser is rusting. Should I replace it?
If the coil or casing is badly corroded, efficiency drops and leaks become more likely, so replacement is usually worth considering. We can assess it and recover the refrigerant if you go ahead.
What size air conditioner does a small office need?
It depends on floor area, number of people, computers and sun exposure. A small office often suits a 3.5 to 5 kW split, but equipment-heavy rooms may need more. Our sizing guide covers the basics.
Nearby areas we service
On the southern Sunshine Coast we also service the Aura community.
