Air conditioning for new homes across Aura

Aura is still being built, and most of the homes we see here are new, which changes how an install is planned.

Aura is Stockland's master-planned community in the Caloundra South Priority Development Area, marketed as the City of Colour. Rather than a single suburb, it spans new suburbs including Baringa, Nirimba and Banya across about 2,310 hectares. First land sales happened in 2016, Baringa was gazetted in 2017, and Nirimba and Banya followed in 2019. At full build-out it is planned to house around 50,000 people.

New homes come with modern switchboards, which usually makes adding air con circuits straightforward. The bigger questions are about layout. Two-storey homes mean upstairs bedrooms with longer pipe runs to a ground-level condenser, and narrow side setbacks can limit where outdoor units fit. Many owners also want a neat look that suits a brand-new facade, so pipe covers and careful placement matter.

About 700 hectares of Aura is conservation land and parkland, including wetlands along Aura Brook and the Bells Creek Conservation Area to the east. For homes backing onto green space, we think about condenser placement so it sits neatly and does not face directly at a neighbour.

Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill. We do not have an office on the Sunshine Coast; we travel up to Aura to install and service air con, so booking ahead helps us group jobs in the area. Also see EV charger installation in Aura and Electrician Aura.

Check your estate guidelines first

Master-planned communities often have design guidelines that cover where external equipment can be seen from the street. Check your contract or covenant before choosing a condenser location.

Side or rear walls are usually the best bet, and we can talk through options at the assessment.

Upstairs bedrooms in two-storey homes

When the bedroom is upstairs and the condenser is on the ground, the pipe has to run down the outside wall in a cover or through the building. These are non-standard installs and are quoted after a free assessment.

Sometimes a wall-mounted bracket upstairs is an option, depending on access and safety.

Pre-wiring during construction

If your home is still being built, ask your builder whether air con circuits or conduit can be included. It can save time later. Once you have the keys, we can complete the install.

What we do for Aura homeowners

Air con designed around new-build layouts, from first room to whole house.

First room installs

Start with the main bedroom or living room. Supply and install a TCL 2.5 kW split from $1,650 incl. GST on a standard install.

Multi-head systems

One condenser serving several bedrooms, which helps on narrow lots. Quoted after a free assessment.

Ducted system quotes

For larger new homes we can assess and quote a ducted system after a site visit.

Solar-friendly sizing

Efficient inverter units that make the most of daytime solar if your home has panels.

Aura air conditioning FAQs

Do you have an office in Aura or on the Sunshine Coast?

No. Connex Electrical is based in Mango Hill, and we travel up to Aura to service homes in Baringa, Nirimba, Banya and nearby. Booking ahead helps us schedule your job alongside others in the area.

Can I put the condenser at the front of my house?

It depends on your estate design guidelines, which often limit equipment visible from the street. Side and rear positions are usually preferred. Check your guidelines and we will work within them.

How much does it cost to air condition an upstairs bedroom?

Upstairs installs are quoted after a free assessment because the pipe run is longer and access is harder. Additional costs may apply compared with a standard back-to-back install. We give you a fixed written price before starting.

Is a multi-head or several separate splits better for a new home?

Separate splits mean one failure does not affect every room, and they are simpler to size. A multi-head saves outdoor space, which helps on narrow lots. We weigh it up based on your floor plan, and our split system sizing guide is a useful read first.

Can I run my air con off my solar panels?

An inverter split will use your solar output when it is running during the day, which can reduce what you buy from the grid. Pre-cooling the house in the afternoon while the sun is still out is a common approach. Once it is running, regular servicing keeps it efficient.

My builder installed a unit already. Can you add more rooms?

Yes. We can add splits to other rooms and check your switchboard has space for the extra circuits.

Do you also work in Caloundra West and Bells Creek?

Yes. We cover Caloundra West and the area around Aura on the same trips up from Mango Hill.

Nearby areas we service

On the southern Sunshine Coast we also install air con in Caloundra West.
