Quick answer: Charging a Tesla at home in Brisbane is easy and cheap. The Tesla Wall Connector is the neatest option — up to 7kW on single-phase (most homes), controlled through the Tesla app, and installed from $990 fixed at Connex including the dedicated circuit, RCD protection, Energex lodgement and Certificate of Compliance. You don’t have to use a Tesla-branded charger though — any Type 2 charger (Zappi, Ocular and others) works with a Tesla, and a Zappi is the better pick if you have solar. Home charging costs around $3–$5 per 100km off-peak, or close to free from solar.

How do you charge a Tesla at home?
Three ways, from slowest to best:
- Mobile Connector (plug-in lead): plugs into a normal power point. Slow — around 10–15km of range per hour. Fine for occasional top-ups, too slow as your main method.
- Tesla Wall Connector: a hard-wired 7kW wall charger (on single-phase). Adds ~40km per hour — refills overnight easily. The clean, permanent solution.
- Third-party Type 2 charger: a Zappi, Ocular or similar. Works perfectly with a Tesla and can add smart/solar features.

Both are great — it comes down to your priorities:

Do I need three-phase for a Tesla?
No. Teslas charge happily on a single-phase 7kW home charger, which is what most Brisbane homes have and what refills the car comfortably overnight. Three-phase (up to 11kW for current Teslas on AC) only helps if you already have three-phase power and want faster top-ups.
